The Egyptology is the archaeology`s important field, that studies the religion, the history, the literature the language and the art of the ancient Egypt, from the 5th millennium BC till the 4th century AD. The people who practice this discipline are Egyptologists. The oldest Egyptologists are the ancient Egyptians themselves; a very good example is Thutmose IV who, even before he became a pharaoh restored the Sphinx. Another example is Ramesses II`s fourth son, the prince Khaemweset, who identified and restored tombs, historic buildings and temples like the Unas pyramid in Saqqara. The problems that concerns the ancient Egypt and which are in the view of the Egyptology are numerous and open. A constant transition state characterizes the archaeology of Egypt, the chronology and the terminology being in some kind of dispute. With artifacts that miss or were destroyed and with countless relics, the archeology records are not complete. The old conclusions concerning the ancient Egypt are put into the question by the new discoveries of the archeology. Among the most important Egyptologists is Karl Richard Lepsius who participated at some Egyptians investigations, excavating, mapping and recording some sites. Jean Francois Champollion is the one who made for the first time a general decipherment of the Egyptians hieroglyphics. The decipherment of the Stone the Egyptology` s important development. William Matthew Flinders Petrie brought also great contributions to the Egyptology due to his techniques of excavating, recording and preservation. In the modern times, the Egyptologists` s work is observed and controlled by the Supreme Council for Antiquities. The systems of Egyptian writing, as well as the Egyptian languages are important for Egyptology. In the modern Egyptology are many theories called pseudoscientific and rejected by some Egyptologists. Among these theories are the extraterrestrial and the esoteric ones.
