If you want to discover the Egypt’s specialties, chat with the locals, buy souvenirs and art objects, or fresh fruits and gourmet goodies, or if you want to see the craftsman working, then you should go to the market place. In Cairo’s crowed markets you can find all of these and much more! In Tentmakers Bazaar you can find appliqué-work; if you are passionate by musical instruments, the market from Mohammed Ali Street is the right place to go. On the Wekala al-Balaq street market are for sale different types of fabrics and also Egyptian cotton. In the Camel Market you can see hundreds of camels brought even from other countries. There is one thing that is not missing from any market in Egypt: the fabrics. Rich in all kinds of colors, waves and ornaments, the fabrics are everywhere, stealing the visitors` eyes. The Wekalat Al-Balah market is well known for its diversity of fabrics. There you also can buy car covers, new and used clothes, and other thing like chains for motorcycles; a whole alley is reserved for motorcycles chains! The curtains, fabrics and laces from the Wekalat Al-Balah market are sold in little shops, outside on the streets, or in very large shops that have beautiful pillars. The prices in the Wekalat Al-Balah market are low since the same products are sold in a lot of shops; here you can buy fabrics at half of the price you would pay in other shops. And since the bargain is a must in the Egyptian markets, you can achieve nice souvenirs at very nice prices. Clothing of all types, bed linen, towels in jolly colors, fabrics for garden’s furniture, all of these can be found in this market place. Even a yellow boiler suit!
